Despite the controversy by doing without a physical edition, the game couldn’t look better, and we’ll also be able to continue enjoying its stories after finishing it, since the Finnish studio has confirmed that it will continue to provide it with content.
“We will continue to support Alan Wake 2 after its release. with free content, plus two paid expansions”, they have said from Remedy in an official Q&A post. “The expansions are called Night Springs and The lake HouseBut that’s all we’re going to tell you about them. Remedy also talks about the relationship between this game and its predecessor, which they anticipate is, as expected, a direct sequel. “Alan Wake 2 is a sequel, but also an independent experience”, they answer the question about whether it will be necessary to have played the first game. “New players will be able to enjoy it without prior game knowledge. For returning fans, there’s plenty of lore and connections to be discovered.”
“It is not necessary to have played AWE or Control either,” they say, remembering that both games are set in the same universe. “However, for fans of the Alan Wake universe it is definitely recommended, but completely optional,” they conclude, and that is that Awe was the downloadable content for Control that established connections with the writer’s saga.
Alan Wake 2 will arrive on PS5, Xbox Series and PC on October 17.
